Da Vinci Code is just a NOVEL
I’ve had it. Here’s what I have to say about this whole Da Vinci Code being controversial.
‘The Da Vinci Code’ is just a novel. I’d like to say it again ‘The Da Vinci Code’ is just a NOVEL. What does a novel mean? Let’s see… ooh from the Free Dictionary, here a definition of novel:
novĀ·el 1
n.
- A fictional prose narrative of considerable length, typically having a plot that is unfolded by the actions, speech, and thoughts of the characters.
- The literary genre represented by novels.
Now, isn’t that a little clearer? That book is a story – a fictional prose – with a sense of realism. That’s all. This is true with most of other stories even with story like X-Men, which says that these mutants are the way they are because of evolution. It can be partially true, or at least a possibility!
The same goes to ‘The Da Vinci Code’. It is just a fantasy or probably a possibility. That’s why it’s a novel and not a research paper getting published in National Geographic.
He only claimed that certain facts are true (The Priory of Sion, existence of Opus Dei, descriptions of artwork, documents, etc) and he used those facts and crafted/skewed/modified them to fit the mold of his story, which makes it very believable.
I seriously think that those who are offended really need to relax. After all, he’s just a great story teller. There’s nothing for you to worry about, especially if you really believe that it’s not true.
